Fall 2010 Dance Session
Our Fall Session runs for 14 weeks from September 1st to December 9th. Please keep an eye on our monthly Calendar for all vacation breaks or changes to the schedule. And don't forget to mark your calendars for "Observation Days" (October 25th - 28th), which provide parents with the opportunity to see all of the wonderful progress their dancers are making, as well as the final Class Presentations (December 6th - 9th).
NOTE: ALL CLASSES ARE AT THE PLAINFIELD TOWN HALL, UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED.
Ballet Technique
4:15 - 5:00
Level: Introduction | Ages 5-6
Instructor: Emma Tait
Discover the magical world of classical ballet. Imagery and improvisation guide dancers to connect mind, body and spirit as they explore ballet. Body awareness and movement vocabulary are introduced in barre work, stretching, center and traveling sequences. Time for creative expression within the formal structure of a ballet class allows dancers to be in their bodies.

Ballet 3 is for dancers with previous ballet training who are ready to expand their movement vocabulary in classical ballet. With a strong focus on placement, core strength and energy flow of the body in space, dancers will gain body awareness that is crucial to performing more demanding steps efficiently and gracefully.

Level: Advanced Intermediate (2 classes per week) | Ages 9-12

Ballet 3/4 is for dancers with previous ballet training who are ready to expand their movement vocabulary in classical ballet. With a strong focus on placement, core strength and energy flow of the body in space, dancers will gain body awareness that is crucial to performing more demanding steps efficiently and gracefully.

Ballet 4 is for strong intermediate dancers who would like to study Pointe. Pointe work is done following each class. All exercises are executed at the barre until students establish correct position on Pointe and proper strength. Dancers must attend 2 ballet technique classes per week.

Clean & Strong Technique (Mondays): Class begins with Pilates for strengthening the core muscles. Simple exercises allow dancers to fine tune their technique. Imagery and the study of biomechanics (the way the body works) are tools used to focus on alignment of the body, placement of the arms and head, executing exercises with proper accents and performance quality.
Contemporary Ballet (Wednesdays): Contemporary ballet class follows the structure of a classical class including barre, center and traveling combinations with an expansion of the classical movement vocabulary. Space and weight are explored more fully with spirals, curves and floor work.

Ballet 6 is for the experienced dancer who wants to excel in Pointe work. Following technique class dancers will work on fine tuning Pointe technique as well as learning new and challenging material including center and across the floor exercises. Dancers must attend 3 technique classes per week.
Creative Dance
Open up favorite storybooks and leap into an adventure! Children are inspired to explore movement through stories and pictures. An energetic and creative introduction to dance!

Modern Technique
Teacher Willow Wonder’s movement style is influence by Limon and Cunningham techniques as well as her own explorations of improvisation. Momentum, flow, and connection are some of the elements that inform her style.
